- Pull the syringe with the injection tip out of the bottle, remove the 18 G injection tip (dispose of it in the sharps container, do not recap the tip), and securely attach the new IM injection tip to the syringe. Remove the protective cap from the injection needle.
- Check that the correct dose is in the syringe. It is important to use the exact dose prescribed by your doctor.
Passo 3: Selection and preparation of the injection site

– The injection site is the lateral third of the mid-thigh.
– Observe the top of the thigh and visualize dividing it into a three-by-three grid.

- Clean the skin at the injection site with a new alcohol swab; let the skin air dry.

Replace the IM syringe needle and try again at a different site. If no blood is seen in the syringe, push the drug slowly into the muscle to complete the injection.
- You may feel some burning or pressure as the medication enters the muscle.
- After injecting the medication, pull back on the syringe to remove the needle from the skin. Use a sharps container to properly dispose of the syringe and needle.
- Use an alcohol swab to gently press on the injection site. Press on the injection site until it does not bleed. Use a band-aid if necessary.
